Four injured in village clash

Ambala, August 22: Four persons were injured in a clash which broke out today in a village in the district between two communities.

Four persons were injured in a clash in Thakurpura Kalalti, 30 km from here which started after a man belonging to one community was assaulted by members of the other community, police said.

Om Pal Dhiman was crossing the village’s street when a few members of the other community allegedly attacked him. In the ensuing clash, three members of the community received injuries and were admitted to Medical College Mulana, police said.

Some of the villagers also attempted to torch a few houses of the community but they could not succeed due to heavy police presence.

Police said a dispute existed between two communities over the construction of a religious place in the village for the past one month.

Two days back SDM, Barara, Ashwani Mengi and DSP Ashok Kumar had summoned a meeting of both communities.

The members of minority community had agreed not to construct their religious place in the village and matter was amicably resolved.

A large police force has been deployed in the village and senior police and administrative officials are present at the spot.

According to the District Collector, the situation was under control and the matter would be resolved soon.
