New Delhi, August 20: Four persons, including two women, have been arrested in the national capital for allegedly cheating people on the pretext of supplying domestic helps and stealing articles from their houses, police said today. Raj Kumar (31), Narayan Sahu (26), Urmila Kujur (23) and Neetu Kujur (19) were caught following investigations into a complaint filed by one Dr P K Malik, they said.
Malik claimed that the placement agency Premi Agency had promised to supply a domestic help and had taken Rs 8,000. They arranged one for the complainant on August 18.
However, the next day, he found that the maid, who was supposed to stay with the family, went missing and household articles, including a digital camera and cash of Rs 40,000 stolen. During investigation, police said the address given by the placement agency was found to be false and the mobile numbers non-functional.
Later a person who helped the placement agency in giving advertisements was traced and through him police were able to get to the gang. “One of the policeman telephoned the placement agency people and requested for a servant and a deal was reached.
A trap was laid and the four persons were caught,” a senior police official said. .
