New Delhi, August 08: Four persons, including a woman, were arrested here for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 30 lakh from a businessman after a honey trap, police said today.
Rahul Goel (24), who owns a plastic pipe manufacturing factory, his cousin Ashish Aggarwal (26), Vinod Arora (42) and the 21-year-old woman, whose identity has been protected, were arrested in the city yesterday.
The arrests came following a complaint filed by the young businessman who owns a plastic granule factory in Mangolpuri Industrial Area.
“He was lured by the girl to a hotel and videographed inside a hotel room. The girl and her associates demanded Rs 30 lakh for not making the video public,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Neeraj Thakur said.
Goel, the alleged mastermind, had lost money in “bad investments” and betting on cricket matches. “Goel knew the girl for the past few years.
