The Special Operations Team of Malkajgiri Zone, Cyberabad East, today nabbed four members of a ganja smugglers’ gang and seized 20 kg contraband and four 4 mobile phones.
The accused were identified as Kancharla Sridhar, 28, ganja supplier residing at Kothapally village under Annavaram mandal of East Godavari. He is a native of Shanthi Nagar in Narsampet Mandal of Warangal district; Radinka Laman, 32, resident of Kandarala village under Pitapuram mandal of East Godavari; Dara Manikanth, 28, labourer of same place and Rathod Ravi alias Ravinder, 26, auto driver and resident of Minelli village under Manoor mandal of Medak district.
Police said accused K. Sridhar was procuring ganja from Annavaram and Paderu agency areas and packing it with papers in bags and the same was being transported to Hyderabad through private travel buses with the help of Laxman and Manikanth and supplying it to Rathod Ravi, who was residing at Patancheru area. The Ravi was purchasing ganja on kilogram basis at the rate of Rs 12,000 per kg. He used to make small sachets and selling the same at Patancheru and surrounding areas to gullible public at Rs 500 to 600 per sachet since one year.
On a tip-off, the Malkajgiri SOT sleuths nabbed the accused at ORR crossroads at Ghatkesar, Cyberabad East and seized two bags containing 20 kg ganja worth Rs 4 lakh from their possession and handed over to Ghatkesar P.S.
The arrests were made under the direct supervision of Mahesh M Bhagawat, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad East. (NSS)
