Four former aides of Paritala Ravi held

Hyderabad, May 12: Four former aides of TDP legislator late Paritala Ravi were nabbed on Tuesday for allegedly being involved in cases of extortion and land settlements in the city.

The arrested are K Prasanth alias Kittu, a civil contractor from Dilsukhnagar, Sriramoju Ravindra Chary, a goldsmith from Balapur, T Yadagiri of Lalapet and Vallabh Tiwary alias Ballam of Chikkadpally. The four accused, who had reportedly gone into hiding since the death of Ravi, decided to gang up and re-start their activities after killing of Ravi’s rival and faction leader Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddelecheruvu Suri, police said. Police seized several disputed land documents and four daggers from the arrested.

According to Task Force deputy commissioner of police, VB Kamalasan Reddy, all had criminal records. Prasanth was involved in cases of extortion and robbery. He was also arrested by Saidabad police under the Preventive Detention Act before the 2004 general elections.

“All the four were hired by Paritala Ravi to assassinate the latter’s rival, Chandrasekhar Reddy, for the attack on the former in the Jubilee Hills bomb blast case.

They were involved in the killing of Chandrasekhar Reddy and his friend, Shiva Prasad Reddy at SR Nagar,” Kamalasan Reddy said.

Task Force sleuths, who nabbed the four, claimed to have prevented forcible settlements.
