Four farmers die in Khammam

Khammam, December 26: Four farmers reportedly died due to crop loss today taking the death toll to 16 in Khammam district. A Kotaiah (65), a resident of Erraboinapalli village in Kallur mandal, cultivated paddy in five acres which got damaged due to recent untimely rains. A mentally upset Kotaiah died of cardiac arrest this morning.

Another farmer, P Kalinga Raju (28), belonging to Rompedu in Yellandu mandal reportedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide in his fields early this morning. He cultivated cotton in six acres and paddy in four acres. Both crops were damaged due to untimely rains and he got frustrated. Raju is unmarried.

SK Jamal (57), a farmer of Nizampet village in Yellandu mandal, reportedly died due to cardiac arrest this morning in his house following crop loss. He cultivated paddy in three acres but the recent incessant rains damaged it. G Rajamma (63), a woman farmer belonging to Mukundapuram in Yellandu mandal died due to cardiac arrest in the wee hours of Saturday. Her son cultivated paddy in two acres and invested Rs 30,000 on each acre for it but the recent rains damaged the standing crop in their fields and Rajamma was reportedly upset over it.
