Four of family remanded for dowry death case

In connection with dowry death case of  a young housewife Chatur Bhagya Lakshmi on Saturday last, the Begumpet police arrested her husband Seethala Basker Rao Sashidhar, 27, his parents Seethala Rajalingam Bhasker Rao,  59,  Seethala Basker Rao Manjula, 47, Seethala Bhasker Ramani, 49, (sister of Bhaskar Rao) on Monday evening at Gansmandi, Secunderabad and being producing before the Court for judicial remand. The police also launched a manhunt for three others, who are absconding.

 

It may be mentioned here that deceased Chatur Bhagya Lakshmi, who married Seethala Shashidhar on March 25 last year committed suicide on March 25 this year at Q. No. 304, AMD staff Quarters, Brahman Wadi, Begumpet, Secunderabad.

 

According to Begumpet ACP S Ranga Rao,  the father of the deceased Chatur Krishna of Maithripuram Colony, Karmanghat, Saroor Nagar, lodged a complaint on the night of March 25 stating that his elder daughter Bhagya Lakshmi, 30, working at Atomic Minerals Directorate, Begumpet was tortured by her husband and in-laws for additional dowry and due to unbearable harassment she committed suicide of hanging at her residence on March 25.

 

Based on the complaint, a case under Section 304-B IPC was registered.      Since the death of the deceased occurred within a year after marriage, Begumpet Division ACP S Ranga Rao investigated the case and arrested the four accused.

Earlier on October 28 last  year, the deceased had filed a complaint about harassment by her husband and in-laws at Woman’s police station, Begumpet. The Women Police called the both side family members and sent to Bharosa counseling center at CCS Hyderabad. They conducted counselling between deceased and husband on November 6, 7 and 8 last year. On November 10, 2016, the deceased requested the police to close the case and return her papers. (NSS)
