Ranchi, March 23: Faced with acute financial problems, a couple in Jharkhand attempted suicide and when their two children saw them struggling for their lives, they too attempted suicide. One person died, police said.
According to police, Devendranath Singh, and his wife Chanda Devi attempted suicide by taking pills. Singh’s two daughters – Anuradha, 13, and Priyanka, 12, – woke up when their parents were struggling for their lives.
“The girls also took the pills. Anuradha died and the rest three are admitted in a local hospital,” a police official told IANS.
The couple’s two other children Ayush, 4, and Rimjhim, 6, were sleeping at that time and are safe, the official said.
