Ahmedabad, September 01: Four members of a family including a nine-year-old boy allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poisonous substance in the Chankyapuri area of the city here today, police said.
The incident took place when one Mansukh Patel, along with his wife Majula and son Jignesh consumed some poisonous substance, they said.
According to police, Patel also made Ankit-9-, who is his brother’s son, comsume the substance.
Patel, before consuming the substance called up his relatives and informed them about what he was intending to do, they said.
Following Patel’s phone call, his relatives informed the police who rushed to the spot and shifted all four to a private hosptial in the area, police said.
The reason for their act was not known but it is believed that Patel was under huge financial debt, police added.
They said a case has been registered and further investigation was on.
