New Delhi, April 29: Four Delhi Police Constables were arrested here for allegedly extorting money from a businessman in the guise of saving him from a case of human trafficking, police said today.
The incident was reported from south-east Delhi’s New Friends Colony and the Constables have been identified as Ravinder, Rajbir, Pervez Anand and Bhir Singh, a senior police official said.
On April 20, the Constables had gone to a businessman involved in travel and tour operations telling him that they were investigating a complaint of human trafficking registered against him.
They allegedly told the businessman that they could save him and demanded Rs five lakh for it, the official said adding later a deal was struck between the businessman and policemen for Rs 1.5 lakh and money changed hands.
