Four day workshop on nano technology begins

Chennai, October 05: A four-day workshop on nanotechnology began here today with a view to give ”exposure” to students about the sector”s concepts and potential. The workshop is being organised by Science City under Department of Higher Education, Tamil Nadu.

A total of 75 students belonging to 16 colleges in the state are taking part in the programme. Inaugurating the workshop, M Anandhakrishan, the Chairman of Board of Governors of IIT Kanpur, said that like IT sector, which generated lakhs of jobs, in future nanotechnology would not only generate employment opportunities in the particular sector but also in various fields including medical, electronics, chemical and biomedical.

“This workshop will give exposure to concepts, power and potential to the students in the area of nanotechnology,” he said, adding the student should also look beyond the text book and syllabus to learn the developments that are taking place in various sectors.
