Four charred to death in car-lorry collision

Chittor, February 14: In a tragic incident, four persons were burnt to death when a lorry collided with the car in which they were travelling, near Kallur of Pulicherla mandal, today.

The victims have been identified as Hari (30), Amarnath Reddy (33), Abhilash

(27), Naveenkumar Reddy (27), all of them natives of Agraharam of Pulicherla mandal.

Reportedly, they were going to Kadapa on some personal work when the mishap occurred.

The lorry driver has been identified as Venkataramana (45). He was seriously injured and was shifted to SVIMS in Tirupati.

According to Kallur police, the car from Chittoor was on its way to Piler and the lorry loaded with sugarcane was going to Chittor co-op sugar factory from Piler, when the mishap occurred.

The impact of the mishap was so intense that the car including the passengers were totally charred due to the fire that raged after the head on collision of the two vehicles.

Also, the car records including its number plate were completely destroyed in the incident, while half of the lorry was also burnt even before the arrival of fire tenders.

The local people too tried to control the raging fire, but in vain. Later, two fire tenders from Piler and Pakala reached the spot and brought the flames under control.

Chittoor DSP SA Rajak and Pakala CI Venkatanarayana rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

Madanpalli RDO Siva Reddy, Chittoor RDO Subramanyeswara Rao also visited the spot. Kallur police registered a case and are investigating.
