Four arrested for series of robberies

New Delhi, December 01: Four persons were arrested here for their alleged involvement in robbery cases in the high security Chanakyapuri locality, police said today.

The arrested have been identified as Ravi Verma, Parveen Kumar Sah, Sachin and Jamna Ram, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Shankar Dass said. Another accused Anup Kumar is absconding.

Cash amount of Rs 46,200, stolen mobile phones, an iPod and a camera have been recovered from their possession, Dass said, adding, two of the three incidents took place in the early hours of November 30.

In the first incident, the gang attacked auto-rickshaw passengers near Gymkhana Club in Chanakyapuri. They beat them up and snatched Rs 17,400 from them.

Later in the day the same gang spotted a taxi in which Wittock Patricia, a Belgian woman, was travelling and snatched her iPod, camera and bag.
