Jalpaiguri : Four men allegedly involved in poaching racket were arrested by Forest Officers in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal.
Acting on a tip-off, forest team headed by Range Officer Sanjay Dutta launched a search operation.
According to the forest officers of Belacoba range under Jalpaiguri district, a rifle, few cartridges, an elephant ivory and Rhino killing machineries were seized.
“They are not locals; they are from outside the state. So they were arrested with arms and ammunitions and some accessories and probably they had come for poaching ,” said PT Bhutia, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests.
The four men were arrested in Alipurduar district of the state. One among the four accused is a soldier from Assam Rifles. The accused came from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Assam. (ANI)
