Four arrested in murder case of two elderly women

Mumbai, July 29: A routine vehicle check by police last night resulted in the arrest of four persons who allegedly killed two elderly women and were escaping with their valuables, police said here today. The four, including the car driver of the victims, were nabbed after a policeman who stopped the taxi they were traveling in noticed blood stains on the shirt worn by one and detained them for questioning.

“The police came to know about the murder of the two elderly sisters only after they detained the four accused. During interrogation they revealed that they killed two women,” Deputy Police Commissioner Sanjay Bavisker said.

Yesterday, two woman identified as Pramila Gawde, 52, and Krishnabai Gawde, 58, were allegedly stabbed to death and cash and gold ornaments worth about 1.02 lakh robbed from their flat in Bhoiwada area. The arrested four were identified as Rohan Gaykar (25), who worked as a driver with the Gawde family, Deepak Tawaldekar (20), Kiran Sontake (21), and Feroz Khan (18).

Police recovered the entire stolen articles and cash and explaining the modus operandi said that Rohan went to Gawdes” flat on the pretext of taking his pending salary. MORE PTI VM.
