Four arrested for dealing in fake currency

Mumbai, November 30: Four persons were arrested for allegedly dealing in counterfeit currency and fake currency notes of Rs 13.6 lakh face value was recovered from them, Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad said today.

While two persons, Samed Habibul Shaikh (35) and Dildar Hussain Abdul Hadi (45) were arrested last night along with fake currency worth Rs six lakh, two others Mohammed Islam and Pratap Choudhary were arrested this morning possessing Rs 7.6 lakh fake currency.

“Islam and Choudhary are the prime accused as they are the ones who smuggle in the notes to the city from Malda in West Bengal and pass it over to other people like Samed and Dildar for circulation,” ATS chief Rakesh Maria told reporters here today.

According to ATS, the notes were procured from one Ghulam Murtaza in West Bengal, who is a known offender and wanted in several other cases.
