Four arrested for allegedly murdering middle aged man

With the arrest of four people including a housewife, the Thane police today claimed to have solved the mystery surrounding the alleged murder of a middle aged man in Kalwa a week ago. Assistant police inspector R B Jadhav of the Kalwa police station who investigated the crime said that it was a week ago when the police located the body of a 50-year-old man lying in the Parsik tunnel near Waghobha Nagar in Kalwa. The victim was later identified as one Harishankar Naresh Singh (50) a resident of Ghatkopar in Mumbai. Allegedly, Singh had made sexual advances towards the wife of one of his friends, which she had refused. On March 14, after his persistant advances, the lady called up her brothers, who allegedly smashed him to death with the help others and dumped his body in the Parsik tunnel, hoping to pass it off as an accident, the police said. The police arrested four accused, while three others who were allegedly also a party to the murder are still at large, the police said. Those arrested and those absconding have been charged under Section 302, the police said. Senior police inspector Prakash Nilewad expressed confident that the police would trace the three absconding very soon. PTI
