Four Afghans arrested with 65 kg opium in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, November 14: Four Afghan nationals were arrested here for possessing around 65 kg of opium, Excise department officials said today.

The accused have been identified as Ahmed Shafi, Mohd Shafi, Firozi and Faisal, all aged between 25 and 30 years.

The four were nabbed last evening by the enforcement wing of Excise department after they were found moving suspiciously at Nampally railway station here, the officials said, adding opium weighing around 65-70 kg was seized from their possession, they said.

The arrested Afghan nationals had valid passports and visas and were fluent in Hindi, an Excise official told, adding, “All of them told police that they flew into Delhi recently. We are verifying the four from where they brought the opium and to whom the consignment was to be handed over here.
