Foundation stone for lift irrigation project laid

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today laid foundation stone for the construction lift irrigation project at Jayanthi village in Krihna district. He was on a three-day district tour under Indiramma bata programme. Addressing the gathering the Chief Minister said that the irrigation project would be constructed at a cost of Rs 9 crore, targeting providing irrigation water 1800 acres. He said that 31 lift irrigation projects were sanctioned at a cost of Rs 120 to the district, out of them, ten projects had been completed and rest were being constructed. Earlier, he interacted with sheep growers and known their problems. Responding to their appeal, he sanctioned construction of a market yard for them to sell and bus their livestock. The Chief Minister also announced Rs.1.2 crore for other infrastructure development for the sheep rears. The Chief Minister said that payment of compensation of Rs.1000 for a livestock, if perished in calamities or in mishaps, is under consideration. The Chief Minister reiterated that Rs.3,100 crores was allocated for the welfare of BCs in the budget. UNI
