New Delhi: 98th Foundation Day Celebration of Jamia Millia Islamia began with a bang. On the first day of the celebration, students of Jamia Millia Islamia presented various colourful educational and cultural programmes.
NCC and NCC cadets gave a guard of honour to Vice Chancellor of the university before the beginning of the programme.
Acting Vice Chancellor of the Jamia Millia Islamia Prof Shahid Ashraf said Jamia Millia is nearing its centenary and it is a moment of pride for all of us. He urged the faculty and students to play their role in taking the institution to further heights.
It must be noted that Jamia Millia Islamia was founded on October 29, 1920, by Maulana Mohammed Ali Jauhar and other eminent personalities, in the backdrop of non-cooperation movement against British education and advocating education through mother tongue.
Foundation day celebrations will be held for two days, during which debates, dramas, quiz competition, baitbazi and other programmes will be organised.
