Gorakhpur(UP), October 22: Former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi Professor Bhaskar Mishra succumbed to his wounds at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow yesterday, family sources said here today.
He was 67. The Professor, his nephew and daughter-in-law (Devanand and Meenakhsi) were seriously injured, when dacoits looted his house in adjoining Deoria district on Diwali eve.
Mishra suffered serious head injuries and was in coma since then. Initially he was admitted to BRD Medical College Hospital here but was later referred to SGPGI, Lucknow, family sources said.
The nephew and daughter-in-law are still being treated at BRD-MCH here and are in critical condition, they said.
