Former president of Social Democratic Party of India, A. Sayeed passes away

Malappuram: Former president of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) A. Sayeed passed away yesterday evening in a private hospital Calicut. A Sayeed an Islamic Scholar, Orator and writer was suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment for the last few weeks.

Son of Alavi Moulavi, a well-known Islamic scholar and Qur’an commentator in Kerala, Sayeed was born in 1955 in Edavanna, Malappuram district of Kerala.

Sayeed went to GMUP School Edavanna, IOSH Edavanna, MES collage Mambad. He took voluntary retirement from the central postal department, from the post of Public Relations Inspector. He also served as the chairman of National Development Front (NDF), Kerala during 2000-2006. He held various positions as Muslim Relief Network president and Intermedia Media Publication Ltd. Currently he was the member of the National Executive Council member of Popular Front of India.

Sayeed had authored many books in Malayalam and some of those title were translated into other languages like Tamil, Kannada, Urdu, Hindi and Bengali.

According to Muslim Mirror, he will be laid to rest in Edavanna Juma Masjid Khabarsthan on 3 April 2019 at 10 am.

Besides Malayalam he was also good in Urdu and used to deliver speeches in North Indian states.
