Hyderabad, July 14: The Janasakti former leader Amar’s wife Vimala on Tuesday met the Director General of Police, Mr R R Girish Kumar, and asked him to release her husband unconditionally. She has submitted a memorandum to the DGP stating that Amar’s arrest was illegal.
The Gujarat police have arrested Kura Devender alias Amar on Monday night at Hyderabad. He was intercepted when he was traveling on a two-wheeler with a friend and whished away. He was later produced at the Nacharam police station, before being taken away to Gujarat.
A conspiracy case was registered against Amar on February 25 this year in the Kamrej police station of Surat district of Gujarat. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him. A police party arrived here to arrest Amar.
Amar, who went underground was arrested by the State police in Pune, Maharashtra in 2008. The Andhra Pradesh High Court had granted him bail during July 2009.
On Monday night, when there was no response from Amar, when Vimala called him, she and other friends thought he was kidnapped. On a complaint by her, the police from Malkajgiri and Kushaiguda stations reached the spot from where he was whisked away and started investigation. However, it was later known that he was arrested by the Gujarat police.
