Former MP, Osman Ali Khan passes away

Hyderabad, May 27: Mr. Osman Ali Khan former Rajya Sabha member passed away the previous day at Chennai at the age of 90 years. He was famous as an industrialist and transport operator.

He was the first Muslim from Andhra to be elected for Rajya Sabha.

He was elected as Rajya Sabha member from Kurnool for the first time in 1957 then for the second time he was elected as Rajya Sabha member from Anantapur in 1962.

He was appointed as the first chairman of Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board during the chiefministership of N Sanjeeva Reddy.

Mr. Osman AliKhan was also the founder president of Dr. Zakir Hussain College Vijayawada.

He was associated with several educational institutions of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
