Ahmedabad, November 18: Making an attempt to come back in power circles, tainted former chief of Medical Council of India (MCI) Ketan Desai will be contesting Gujarat University senate elections.
Desai has submitted a nomination form for the ‘medicine graduate seat’, university officials said adding he had won the polls in 2005 from the ‘medical faculty seat’.
The only other candidate, who is in fray for the same seat, is head of Civil Hospital’s Orthopaedic Department H P Bhalodia, they said.
Desai’s contesting elections is seen here as an attempt by him to make a come back in power circles.
“Senate election is a democratic process. We cannot deny anyone the right to participate in it. He has filled up form as a medical graduate and not as a medical faculty,” Gujarat University Vice Chancellor Parimal Trivedi said.
