According to the report received here two persons made a murder attack on former state minister Mr. C R Sagheer Ahmed as soon as he and his nephew Afsar Ahmed came out of Madina Masjid, Chikmaglore. Although he survived he sustained severe injuries. Personal rift and envy are said to be the reasons behind the attack.
The masjid was given to waqf by C R Sagheer Ahmed’s father late Alhaj R Abdur Razzaq. Sagheer Ahmed’s elder brother Mohammed Abdur Rahman was looking into the administrative aspects of the masjid for long after whose demise his son took charge of it.
Sagheer Ahmed spent lakhs of rupees for masjid renovation and expansion. He asked his nephew Afsar Ahmed to show the financial records which he found not satisfactory. Hence the former appointed an administrator after making representation with state waqf board.
The attack was believed to be because of same hostility.
