Former footballer Zulfiquar Uddin passes away

Mohammed Zulfiqaruddin, son of Mohammed Imaduddin passed away today. He is survived by three sons and 2 daughters.

In 1956, at the age of 17-year, he had represented India in Melbourne Olympics and was the youngest member of the team.

In the Olympics, India had won the fourth place which is the best record of India in the football history.

In the 40s and 50s, he was the captain of Police football team and A.P State team. He had won all the tournaments of the country more than 5 times.

It may be mentioned that he was the famous footballer of Hyderabad. He used to play with Aziz, Layeeq, Moin, Noor and Patrick.

It may be noted that he was ‘Namazi’ too. He never used to miss his namaz, even during the match. He had also offered Morning Prayer a day before his death.

His two nephews, Manzoor and Nasir represent India whereas another nephew, Qizar represents the State in football match. All the three nephews got training from him.

He died at the age of 81 years.
