Coimbatore, May 10: A local court today granted bail to Manickam Durai, a former Bishop of CSI diocese here who was arrested on charges of issuing a life threat to a priest in Gudalur in Nilgiris district.
Allowing his petition, the Gudalur court granted bail and ordered him to appear before it on June 16, police said.
Durai, facing charges of misappropriation of Church of South India (CSI) funds to the tune of Rs three crore, was arrested on May 8 following a complaint by the priest.
However, he was admitted to a hospital in Udhagamandalam on the same day after he complained of chest pain.
He was asked to go on leave after a case was registered against him in connection with the misappropriation charges.
