Formation of Telangana in last stages

It is understood that the process of formation of separate Telangana State has entered its final stage. Central Govt. is getting ready to present Telangana bill in the parliament session starting on 5th December.

The GoM has disappointed Telangana leaders of the Congress by suggesting the inclusion of Kurnool and Anantapur to form Rayala-Telangana. The Congress leaders of Telangana who were celebrating the formation of Telangana got disappointed. The scene has completely changed now.

It is understood that Mr. Jairam Ramesh contacted Congress leaders of Telangana to muster support for Rayala-Telangana. These leaders are planning to make a representation to Congress High Command to form separate Telangana State as per the resolution of Congress Working Committee.

Authentic sources revealed that in addition to Mr. Jairam Ramesh, Mr. A.K. Anthony and Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde also consulted Telangana leader belonging to Congress party. The members of GoM are of the opinion that if Rayala-Telangana is formed, Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in both the States would be equal. Earlier Congress leaders of Telangana had agreed to certain conditions like keeping Hyderabad common Capital for 10 years and entrusting the responsibilities of Law and Order and Revenue to Central Govt. and not to cancel the allotment of lands made to Seema Andhra capitalists. By suggesting Rayala-Telangana, Congress High Command has increased the difficulties of the Congress leaders of Telangana region.

Reliable sources indicated that GoM has not taken any stand for the status of Hyderabad. It has been left to the discretion of the Central cabinet. Congress leaders have an apprehension that TRS will not accept the proposal of Rayala-Telangana. It is an important stakeholder of this issue. BJP could also refuse to support Telangana bill in the Parliament if Rayala-Telangana is proposed. It has indicated that it will support separate Telangana State consisting of 10 districts only. In these circumstances Congress leaders of Telangana are pressing the Central Govt. to consult Union Ministers belonging to Telangana and senior leaders. The opinion of TRS should also be sought. A senior leader of Telangana that due to unexpected proposal of GoM it is not certain whether Telangana bill could be presented in the winter session of Parliament.
