Formation of madrasa board will not be forced upon India madrasas: Sibbal

After a meeting with Muslim member parliament on the issue of Central Madrasa Board Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibbal said that in case the Muslim Community is not in favor of the proposed board his ministry will withdraw the proposal. Minister assured that there is no attempt to interfere in the religious teaching of madrasas.

Out of 30 MPs who had promised to attend the meeting only 18 Muslim Members of both the house of Parliament met HRD Minister Kapil Sibbal. As expected most of the member were not in favor of the concept or the formation of proposed board.

After the meeting Kapil Sibbal said that four to five MP strongly said that there is no need for forming a board but four to five said that though there is a need of such type of board there should be some changes in the proposal.

Sibbal said that this is not the government but the Sachchar committee has recommended the formation of Central Madrasa Board. He clearly said that the Government is not in a hurry to form the board and said that it will be done after consultation with Muslim MPs, Muslim Intellectuals and Ulema.

“If the community will not be in favor we will withdrew it” the minister said. Kapil Sibbal has requested the Muslim MPs to send their views and suggestions with in a month.

As far as the Muslim MPs are concerned they have different opinions. Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, the lone BJP MP said that the proposal is not good and there is a need of many changes in this. It will increase the differences between different cast of Muslims.

Rashid Alvi said that it need many changes. I suggested that this should be called as Muslim education board and not as Madrasa education Board.

Maulana Badruddin Ajmal of United Democratic Front said that It has already been said that Deeni Madaris don’t want any interference from Government in their syllabus or their way of functioning. Government should give attention on only those Madrais that are taking their grant.

Madrasas that are not taking government help, they should give freedom to do what they want. Maulana Badruddin Ajmal said that the Government should open ITI, Medical and Engineering Colleges in Muslim locality and should stop to think about Madrasa.
