Hyderabad: Sk Saifullah Khaled (49), an advocate and secretary of Darsgah-e-Jihad-o-Shahadat (DJS) and three varsity employees were arrested by the Osmania University (OU) police on Sunday, for creating engineering transcripts through fraudulent means.
Others arrested include G Santosh Reddy (27), a data entry operator at S3 Softechpvt Ltd in Ramnagar, and T Ramesh (32), C Aravind Kumar (30) and M Ramu (38), all office attenders at the Osmania University examination branch.
M Kumar, controller of examinations lodged a complaint with the OU police on Saturday evening, stating that he noticed a list of transcripts related to issue of BE certificates lying on a table while he was on his surprise check at the electronic data processing section of the examination branch.
OU inspector V Ashok Reddy revealed that on verifying the applications, the controller of examinations found that one application (EN021700093) in the name of Sk Abdullah, son of Sk Mahboob Ali (late DJS founder), bearing roll number 0381-176 BE (Civil Engineering), claiming to have passed with first division in June 1985, was not found in the varsity records.
The inspector further informed that on enquiry the controller of examinations found that the EDP section employees Ramu, Ramesh and Arvind Kumar were preparing forged BE transcripts on the request of Santosh Reddy and Saifullah.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the controller of examination, the OU police registered a case and arrested the five from their houses on Sunday. Cash, forged transcripts and photocopies of fake BE degree certificates in the name of Saifullah’s brother Sk Abdullah were also seized.
Later Saifullah confessed that he obtained fake BE certificate of his brother Abdullah from OU as the latter’s employers demanded original transcripts. Saifullah further informed that his brother is working as an engineer at Bin-Laden Company in Jeddah.
Saifullah is said to have paid Rs 2 lakh to Santosh Reddy for obtaining fake BE certificate. According to police, Saifullah is an accused in two criminal cases being investigated by the Special Investigation Team and the Moghalpura police.
