Foreigner granted bail in Ajmer

Jaipur, January 18: An Italian, who was held with a satellite phone without valid documents last week in Pushkar town of Ajmer, was today released on bail.

Andrea Pagnacco, who is of Italian origin and based in London, was in judicial custody since January 14 last.

“We had moved a bail application on Friday last and hearing in the court of District and Session Judge was done on Saturday.

The Magistrate ordered the release of Pagnacco on condition of payment of a bail of Rs 40000, his lawyer Prateek Kasliwal said.

“The next hearing is on January 23,” he said, adding, that he is now free to travel in the country.

Pagnacco is reportedly on a world tour in a biofuel-driven bus to study climate change and was arrested in Pushkar on January 11 for carrying a satellite phone allegedly without proper documents and necessary permission.
