New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Vijay K. Gokhale, who was on a two-day official visit to Bhutan from April 1, has underlined the strengthening of bilateral relations between New Delhi and Thimphu.
According to an official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Gokhale met his Bhutanese counterpart, Dasho Sonam Tshong, during his visit. He also called on the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay.
The Foreign Secretary had an audience with Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
The talks were held in a cordial atmosphere in keeping with the unique and exemplary bonds of friendship and cooperation that existed between India and Bhutan.
The visit was in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries and provided an opportunity to the two sides to discuss matters concerning the bilateral partnership, including the commemorative activities planned in 2018 to mark the golden jubilee of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries.
