Mumbai, April 18: A foreign merchant vessel that anchored off the coast of Mumbai was thoroughly searched today following intelligence input that a Pakistani national on board was carrying arms and ammunition to be delivered here, a senior police official said.
However, no suspicious objects were found on board of the ship, the official said.
The Denmark merchant vessel sailed here from Kuwait last night and was anchored off the coast of Mumbai, said a Coast guard official.
“We had inputs that a Pakistani national was carrying arms and ammunitions and they would be delivered here.
Following the inputs, the security agencies searched the ship thoroughly but nothing suspicious was found and no Pakistani national was traced on board of the ship,” an IPS official said.
However, questioning of the eight crew members on the ship was underway by the security agencies, the official said.
