President of the ongoing 11 th World Metropolis Congress Jean Paul Huchon, is among several dignitaries who met Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rao here on Wednesday.
On the sidelines of the ongoing 11 th World Metropolitan Congress at the HICC in the city, the minister interacted with these foreign dignitaries, drawn from different countries. The Metropolis Congress president shared the views with KTR on urban development and smart city initiatives, while Deputy Mayor of Berlin, Barbara Berninger, who is an expert in smart cities, discussed various aspects on building and developing the smart cities.
Mayor of Mashhad in Iran, Solat, requested the IT Minister to take the initiative to launch a separate flight from Hyderabad to Tehran and Mashhad in Iran. In view of the large Muslim population in the historic city of Hyderabad, the Mayor wanted Mr Rama Rao to initiate measures for reciprocal cultural exhibitions with large participation of the youth to further develop the bilateral ties.
Expressing the readiness by Iran to extend any kind of cooperation to strengthen the ties with Telangana, the Mayor offered to hold skill and tourism development programmes with the active participation of the Telangana Government.
To realise the dream of the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, to build houses for poor and to transform Hyderabad as a slum-free city, the discussion of Rama Rao with Park Tau, the Mayor of Johannesburg, focused mainly on shelters for all. Discussions on IT, logistics, tourism and commerce also figured during an interaction with Mayors of Barcelona and Sao Paulo.
