Foreign Education for 600 Toppers in Grades X and XI

Abu Dhabi, June 23: Around 600 top 10th and 11th grade academic achievers will be offered an opportunity by Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), to travel to Canada, Australia and New Zealand for studying English language and information technology.

Dr Mughair Khamis Al Khaili, ADEC Director General, said that during the six-week long summer programme male and female students would gain leadership skills, depend on themselves and learn about cultures and civilisations of the host countries.

“Shaikh Mohammed’s grant, in its fourth year running, underlines the unstinted care given by the country’s leadership to the development of human resources through good education and continued training at par with the highest international standards. It will also aim at grooming students academically and professionally so as to gain experience and skill to join higher education institutions inside or outside the country in a way that ensures educational and career future under the patronage of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,’’ he said.

“The first batch of students is scheduled to leave the country on July 2. The group will comprise 500 male students and 100 female students, an increase of 100 students over last year,’’ he added.

The students, he explained, would be distributed to the three countries where male students will live with native families while their female peers will be placed in top class boarding institutions.
