Lahore, April 11: Skipper Shahid Afridi said the possibility of bringing in a foreign batting coach would be considered if Javed Miandad was unavailable to fill the role for the national team.
According to ‘The Dawn’, giving the inauguration speech at Karachi’s Boom Boom Cricket Stadium, Afridi said he will try to learn from his previous mistakes in order, improve and try to give the team some stability.
The Pakistani skipper said the team picked for the West Indies tour consists of fresh players and it will present a great opportunity to Pakistan to assess its future prospects.
It was reported earlier that Miandad had turned down the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) offer to take charge as the batting coach of the national cricket team.
The director-general cricket of the PCB had confirmed that he had informed the board that he would not be able to immediately join the team and accompany them on the tour to the West Indies because of prior commitments.
