Karimnagar Municipality is showing enthusiasm in collecting property tax from private properties forcibly but it is not exhibiting any interest for collecting taxes from Govt. buildings. As a result of which Rs. 5 crore are to recovered from Govt. properties. Fines are being imposed for belated payments made by private owners.
Due to non-collection of taxes from Govt. properties many developmental works are held up. There are 32 thousand properties under the jurisdiction of Karimnagar Municipality from which Rs. 10 crore have to be collected but it is not being done so.
Many higher officials are available at district headquarters. It is, therefore not possible for the Municipal staff to force them to pay the taxes on time. Collector Ms. Sumeetha Sabharwal is requested to take action in the matter.
