Force One equivalent to NSG, Maha govt tells high court

Mumbai, July 12: Force One, the commando force raised after 26/11 attacks, is modelled on the elite National Security Guards, the Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court today.

The court, hearing PILs filed by advocate V P Patil and others on security lapses that led to the attack, had earlier remarked that state should have commandos stationed in Mumbai.

The court had also sought a report on measures taken in the aftermath of the attacks.

Public Prosecutor P A Pol today filed a confidential report.

Talking about the commando unit, he said that “Force One is equivalent of NSG”.

The new force, headquartered in Mumbai, is headed by IPS officer Sadanand Date, who himself was injured battling the terrorists at Cama Hospital on the night of November 26.
