Forbesganj police firing: LJP demands CBI probe

New Delhi, July 05: LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan and his supporters today staged a protest here demanding CBI inquiry into the police firing in Bihar”s Forbesganj, which left four people dead, and accused the Nitish Kumar-led government of diving the state on communal lines.

Paswan and his supporters courted arrest after the protest staged at Jantar Mantar. The agitators accused Kumar of ignoring the problems of villagers who were protesting against a wall being constructed for an upcoming starch factory in Forbesganj.

Raising anti-Bihar government slogans, the protesters burned an effigy of the Bihar Chief Minister.

Paswan said, “The

Superintendent of Police and Special Police Officer who were involved in the incident have not been suspended yet. How can any evidence be found if they are still there? We demand a CBI inquiry as the judicial inquiry ordered by the chief minister will not suffice.”

He alleged the Nitish Kumar-led government is dividing the state on communal lines. The Bihar government is “going the communal way”, he said.

Four people, including a pregnant woman and an infant, were killed after police opened fire on a mob, which they claimed had indulged in heavy stone-throwing and arson, in Bhajanpur village at Forbesganj in Araria district on June 3.
