Malappuram: In an unfortunate event, a former footballer collapsed to death while playing a seven-sided match at Perinthalmanna in Malappuram district in Kerala yesterday.
R Dhanarajan aged 39, who played for a number of famous teams in country namely Mohammedans, Viva Kerala and Chirag United is reported to have collapsed during a match between FC Perinthalmanna and Sashta Thrissur, TOI reports.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but nothing could revive the player.
Dhanarajan was also known as ‘Dhana’. He played a major part in Bengal’s Santosh trophy victory in 2011.
