New Delhi, February 25: Officials and staff of various Embassies and High Commissions in India will showcase their football skills in the United Cup 2010 tournament to be held at Jaypee Integrated Sports Complex in Greater Noida.
The six-a-side tournament will be played at the weekends from February 26-28 and March 5-6 on a smaller-sized field as per the FIFA guidelines.
The inter-embassy championship, organised by New Delhi United Football Club, will witness participation of 16 teams from Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, China, Chile, Israel, Russia, Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa, Malaysia, Mongolia, Malawi, Bangladesh, Bhutan, UNICEF world team, besides India.
The matches will have two 20-minute halves each and eight teams will qualify for the knock-out phase. Quarterfinals will be played on March 5 to be followed by semifinals and the final next day.
