Hyderabad, April 10: This time around, hopefully there many not be students being turned away from Eamcet examination centres for arriving late.
The officials are making fool proof arrangements to ensure that the students would arrive at the venue on time on the day of examiantion – May 30 – so that there would be no girl student sobbing at the gate or a male student pleading with the officials to allow him inside.
The officials are planning to announce the ranks of the students on June 20 and the final ranks after declaration of Intermediate marks.
On the direction of the ap State human Rights commission (apShRc), examination is being conducted on Sunday (May 30) and orders were issued to all examination centres to permit students into the examination halls 45 minutes prior to commencement of the examination. earlier, students were allowed into the examination centre only 30 minutes prior to the examination. Candidates have been instructed to reach the examination halls one hour before the commencement of the examination.
The examination for engineering stream would be held between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and for medicine and agriculture disciplines it will be between 2.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m.
“To help students reach the venue of the examination in time, we are providing phone numbers of the examination centres on hall-tickets so that they can contact the examination centre for exact location,’’ said committee chairman and JNTU-HVice-chancellor DN Reddy.
Hall-tickets can be obtained from all regional centres by showing the acknowledgement card from 30 to May 6. For those who fail to collect them, they will be sent through post after May 6. The hall-tickets can also be downloaded from website `www.apeamcet.org’ by entering the registration number of the candidate given on the acknowledgement card from May 12 onwards.
Similarly, duplicate hall-tickets will be issued on request by candidate directly at the examination centre one day prior to the examination on payment of Rs 20 along with two passport size photographs and a copy of the card. As many as 3.24 lakh students had applied for engineering stream and another 53,647 for agriculture and medicine disciplines as on april 9. eamcet convener NV Ramana Rao said that there is an estimated increase of about 10,000 in engineering stream whereas there is decrease of about 10,000 in medicine and agriculture streams.
Candidates will be allowed to take home question paper but should submit the OMR sheet along with the question paper booklet without fail.
