Food inflation will ease in 2 months, says Montek

New Delhi, March 08: India’s food and aggregate inflation would trend down over the next two months, Planning Commission Deputy Chairperson Montek Singh Ahluwalia said Monday.

“I would not hazard a guess on end-March inflation projections, but I would expect food and aggregate inflation to trend down over the next two months,” Ahluwalia told reporters here.

India’s food inflation shot up to almost 20 percent in December and is now hovering around 18 percent. According to the government, prices of food articles went up because of supply constrains.
