Fodder Scam: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav convicted, Jagannath Mishra acquitted

Ranchi: Former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has been pronounced guilty on Monday in the fourth fodder case, with other 14 people. While the another accused former CM Jagannath Mishra from the Bhartiya Jan Congress has been acquitted.

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi said that Yadav was found guilty of fraudulently withdrawing Rs 3.13 crore from Dumka Treasury between December 1995 and January 1996, when he was the chief minister of undivided state.

Court’s hearing in the case was completed on March 5 and the verdict was scheduled for March 15. It was then rescheduled for Monday. RJD’s supremo was convicted in the first fodder scam in 2013 and was sentenced to five years in jail. He has been already kept in Birsa Munda jail, serving 13.5 years term for the previous three fodder scams.

Yadav was not present in the court during the hearing of verdict, he has been admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) after falling sick on Saturday.
