CPM Telangana State Secretary T Veerabhadram today demanded that the TRS Government should focus on implementation of a comprehensive development plan.
Participating as chief guest in a debate on “New Telangana – Phase and Direction” organized by Social justice Forum at Sundaraiah Vignan Vedika here, Veerabhadram stated that the Government should give priority to welfare, social justice and an inclusive growth. He demanded the government to take immediate measures to ensure decentralization of powers and funds at rural level and speed up welfare schemes. He suggested that the rulers should resolve land related problems in the state.
He also emphasized the need for eliminating discrimination among the poor and deprived classes. He warned that they will not remain mute spectators, if the government tries to downsize subsidies being given to poor and weaker sections. Instead they must stop giving sops and concessions to business classes in the state. The CPM leader also suggested that the Government should implement “Our Village and Our Plan” to develop villages on par with towns. For this a team should be sent to Kerala to study the scheme, he suggested.
Prof G Vinod Kumar appealed to the Government to take back all those lands allocated by then Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. Forum Convenor Ramulu, Farmers Association Leader S Malla Reddy, former MP S Ramachandra Reddy, Praja Sakthi former Editor Vinay Kumar were among those present.(NSS)
