Focus on Cashless transactions: CS tells collectors

Chief Secretary K Pradip Chandra today directed the collectors of all districts to take necessary measures to educate people on cashless transactions in the wake of demonetization.

At a video conference from Secretariat the CS asked the collectors to create awareness among people of towns and villages and encourage them to use plastic money. His remarks assume significance since scrapping of notes, coupled with non availability of new Rs 500 notes, Rs 100 and Rs 50 notes, has led to a sort of confusion and chaos among the people it is time to educate the people on cashless transactions. He directed that the collectors and bankers should sort out the issue of demonetization besides taking steps to offer money through banks and ATMs. Reacting on complaints from across the state that the banks are denying the money and long queues Pradip Chandra asked the collectors to hold meetings with bankers and ensure that the people get their money. At the same time the government is coming up plans to provide sufficient number of swiping machines and equipment for regular business and transactions at multiple outlets he said. (NSS)
