Flu suspect leaves hospital without informing authorities

Jaipur, August 08: A 35-year-old man, admitted to the SMS hospital here after showing symptoms of swine flu, todays neaked out of the hospital, hoodwinking the staff on duty.

Bhajan Lal was admitted to the hospital after his return from Sharjah this morning when the medical team at Sanganer Airport here detected him with symptoms of the influenzavirus, official sources said.

“Lal left the isolation ward without informing the authorities but left behind his bag,” they said.

His family members in Karauli district were contacted but they also did not know his whereabouts, Superintendent of SMS hospital Narpat Singh said, adding that the police has been informed about the incident.

“We are trying to contact the person through the health officials in Karauli and would persuade him to give his blood sample for testing and to take precautionary measures,” a health department official said.

Meanwhile, a 35 year old woman Jamna Devi was referred to the SMS hospital from another government hospital hereafter she showed flu-like symptoms.

She had returned from Dubai on August 3, he said.
