Florida school shooting suspect in custody: sheriff

Miami: US authorities said today they had arrested a suspect who is believed to have opened fire at a high school in Florida — an incident that may have caused a “number of fatalities,” according to the state’s senior senator.

“Shooter is now in custody.

Scene is still active,” the Broward County sheriff’s department said on Twitter.

US Senator Bill Nelson told CNN and MSNBC that the school district’s superintendent believes there are a “number of fatalities.” Earlier, firefighters told the local CBS affiliate that there were between 20 and 50 people wounded in the incident.
