Hyderabad: The trend of erecting large posters, banners and flexies is on the increase these days in Telangana State. It is quite evident that huge amounts are spent on the preparation and installation of these posters in order to attract the attention of the political bosses. The sad thing is that this trend is developing among the non-political people as well. In the posters of religious institutions, political leaders get prominent places.
GHMC started a campaign on imposing fines on the banners and posters for which no tax has been paid but their number has not decreased.
Govt. releases funds for undertaking developmental works in certain areas but the local leaders paint the photographs of political bosses in order to please them. Contractors are forced to bear the expenses of publication of advertisement in newspapers and banners etc. besides footing the bills of garlanding the leaders in such functions.
There is a need to create awareness among the people to avoid spendthriftness on such trivial things. It is important to divert the same money in welfare activities by donating them to religious organizations, orphanages etc.
